However, part of the fun of a game like modern war is that you learn the maps to become a better player and find where the camping spots are and the choke points.

From a gameplay standpoint, I would say that random maps even the playing field as far as map memorization goes and you learn how to actually be a good technique player

Google did not fully test Buzz, because they wanted to rush their Twitter competitor out the door. Big mistake. There have been complaints that ex lovers and stalkers have refound their victims. The rest of this article is borrowed from the BBC:

The firm has had to make a series of changes to the service after a ferocious backlash from users concerned about intrusions of privacy.

The BBC understands that Buzz was only tested internally and bypassed more extensive trials with external testers – used for many other Google services.

Google said that it was now working “extremely hard” to fix the problems.

“We’re very early in this space. This was one of our first big attempts,” Todd Jackson, Buzz product manager, told BBC News.

“We’ve been testing Buzz internally at Google for a while. Of course, getting feedback from 20,000 Googlers isn’t quite the same as letting Gmail users play with Buzz in the wild.”

Many of the firm’s new services are tested by the so-called Google Trusted Tester program, a network of friends and family of Google employees who are given confidential access to products before they launch.

Buzz was not tested by this program.

The firm has now set up a “war room” at Google HQ to bring together engineers and product managers to make decisions about what changes need to be made to Buzz.

“If it becomes clear that people don’t think we’ve done enough, we’ll make more changes,” said Mr Jackson.

He acknowledged that many of the networks “tens of millions” of users were “rightfully upset” and that the firm was “very, very sorry”.

“We know we need to improve things.”

Privacy priorities

Buzz was launched on 9 February. The service, which is integrated with Gmail, allows users to post status updates, share content and read and comment on friends’ posts.

One problem that immediately caused concern was Google’s decision to automatically give users a ready-made circle of friends based on the people they most frequently e-mailed.
Facebook page
The launch was widely seen as a challenge to Facebook

Unless users changed settings in their profile, this list could automatically be made public, allowing anyone to see who a user corresponded with most frequently.

Mr Jackson told BBC News that the decision to create these automatic lists was borne out of the idea that Google “wanted to provide a great user experience straight out of the box”.

But privacy experts immediately pointed out this could cause problems for journalists, businesses or even people having an illicit affair.

Evgeny Morozov, a Belarus-born researcher and blogger who looks at the political implications of the internet, also raised concerns.

“If I were working for the Iranian or the Chinese government, I would immediately dispatch my internet geek squads to check on Google Buzz accounts for political activists and see if they have any connections that were previously unknown to the government,” he wrote

As a result of complaints, Google said Buzz would now only suggest people who a user might want to be friends with.

The company has also announced steps to make it easier to disable Buzz altogether and to ensure that people’s accounts do not automatically connect with online Picasa photo albums and items that people may store in their Google Reader accounts.

The changes were in part thrashed out at a company-wide meeting on 12 February at Google headquarters.

“We realize that we didn’t get things quite right – we’re working extremely hard to fix this,” said Mr Jackson.

He said that “transparency and control” were “top priorities” and that users would “continue to see improvements”.

Code challenge

Other possible changes include a better “preferences menu” that will allow users to better tailor what appears in their inbox, and a more prominent “mute” option to switch the service off.

Another idea, said Mr Jackson, was to create a separate service that was not part of Gmail.

“We think that integration with Gmail was absolutely the right way to go – we wanted to make Buzz easily accessible to people,” he said.

“We also want to give people who don’t use Gmail the ability to use Buzz, so we’re exploring the idea of offering a separate destination site.”

The most recently announced changes would go live “this week”, he added.

“We worked around the clock to make the code changes for these improvements; now we’re putting them through a full testing process to identify any bugs and translating them into 53 languages so they reach all Gmail users.”

Asked if the Google founders – Larry Page and Sergey Brin – or any of the executive team would issue an apology for breaching their user’s trust, a Google spokesperson said: “Google has apologised – we’re very sorry for the concern we caused.”

Want to have the best conversations and the best connections on the Internet and Social Media? Follow these simple 25 laws and you will achieve true internet power with your facebook and twitter pages.

1. Be objective. Start a campaign by asking yourself questions like: how do I measure success? Upon meeting the metrics, does the campaign stop or would it have further goals? Setting your goals beforehand avoids unnecessary guessing later on when you’re faced with two opposing decisions.
2. Be on your best behaviour. Everything you do gets recorded – sometimes permanently.
3. Strive to be interesting. You want people to come back to your profile over and over.
4. Maintain a lively discussion. Reply if people comment on your profile.
5. Don’t make it difficult for people to give you feedback. Appreciate their feedback, be it positive or constructive.
6. Interact with your fans. A contest or two every once in a while wouldn’t hurt. You can also try a few surveys.
7. Keep your profile current.
8. Choose a good username. Seriously.
9. Use services that will integrate all your social media applications together. For example, FaceBook can link with Twitter so that any status update on FaceBook reflects as a tweet.
10. Customize your landing pages. You don’t have to go with the drab default layouts. Many social media sites allow you to upload your own designs and layouts – take advantage of them.
11. Watch out for new entrants. You’ll never know what will be the next twitter or FaceBook.
12. Join many social media sites, but focus only on a few. Just like many things, it’s preferable to go for quality over quantity.
13. Organize your information. Company pictures, logos, portfolios, etc. should be in their proper places. You don’t want prospective clients getting lost in the employee pictures.
14. Don’t forget other Media.
15. Don’t forget to do website and search engine optimization.
16. Don’t overdo placing too many widgets and applications. You want them looking at your profile, not tickling yet another cute hamster.
17. Think about advertising with the social media site’s ad network.
18. Check – and recheck – your privacy settings.
19. Have a lot of patience. Your profile needs to build enough critical mass before it becomes profitable to maintain it.
20. Expand your network. Connect with peers and industry authorities.
21. Link to your social media site from your main company site, and vice versa.
22. You mean you don’t have a company site? Get one; social media sites are not a replacement for your main company site.
23. Make your social media site special by announcing exclusive deals and coupons only available there.
24. Profile your followers. See what your audience really consists of versus your expected target.
25. And lastly, remember the golden rule: do unto others what you want them done unto you. That means, don’t get all squeamish about following people – they need followers too just like you need them.

When you build a Web page, unless you are only going to display it on your personal computer, you need a place to display it on the Net. This place is controlled by a Web hosting company. There’s plenty of different options for Web hosting, from free (typically ad-supported) hosting all the way through hosting services where you own and maintain the machines and network connection yourself, and everything in between.

can be tempting to jump right in to Web design and learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and all that, after all that is the fun part. But if you haven’t thought about where you are going to put your Web pages or what legal and privacy issues you might encounter, you’ll run in to problems finally. But it is easy to get a Web hosting provider and set up a domain. And six time you have these, the fun part is all you have left.
Set Up Web Hosting

The first thing you ought to do when building a web-site is to find a Web hosting provider. Use the links below to decide the best hosting solution for you and your business.

* Before You Select a Web Hosting Service
* Finding a Hosting Provider
* Web Hosting Links

Get a Domain Name

While a domain name is not absolutely critical for every web-site, getting a domain will make your site not as hard to find and access. Plenty of people have domain names for their sites, even if they don’t expect the site to make funds. It is so cheap to register a domain, that it is silly to not register six if you have a Web-site.

Learn Basic Legal Issues Surrounding Web Pages

* How to Register a Web Site Domain – Video
* How to Buy a Domain Name with Network Solutions
* Domain Names

* Copyright and the Web
* The Legalities of Linking
* Legal Issues on the Web

Like everything else in life, there’s legal issues you ought to be aware of when putting up Web pages. Copyright is the huge six – don’t copy other people’s work without permission. But there’s also issues of linking and protecting children online. If you take the time to learn the basic laws surrounding Web pages before you put six up, you won’t be surprised later on.

Privacy is becoming more of a legal issue on the Web as increasingly countries enact laws like COPPA to protect privacy rights. It is such a serious concern to most people that if you don’t show care about their privacy concerns they will leave your site immediately. Be sure you are aware of how privacy is perceived on the Web and what you can do to protect it while still collecting the information you need to run your business.

Protect the Privacy of Your Customers and They’ll Stay Your Customers

Get Ready to Start Building Your Web-site

* Privacy and the Web
* Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
* Automated Privacy Policies

Now go out and design a great site!

Recall that planning is the best tool you have in your arsenal. The more you plan your site out before you start building, the better prepared you will be for the inevitable problems.
